Dialogic Demonstrates Network Function Virtualization Interoperability
Dialogic demonstrates Network Function Virtualization interoperability between its IMS Media Processing virtualized network function and Oracle Communications Application Orchestrator

PARSIPPANY, N.J., Feb. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Dialogic, a cloud-optimized applications and infrastructure solutions provider for service providers, enterprises, and developers, announced today Dialogic® PowerMedia™ XMS Media Resource Function (MRF) and PowerMedia™ Media Resource Broker (MRB) solutions can now interoperate with Oracle Communications Application Orchestrator for Network Function Virtualization (NFV) environments.

The PowerMedia™ media processing platform is deployable as a composite Virtualized Network Function (VNF) to provide both Media Resource Functionality (MRF) and Media Resource Broker (MRB) with service provider scalability in cloud-based IMS and NGN environments.  Oracle Communications Application Orchestrator is a Virtual Network Function Manager (VNFM) that coordinates and manages the complete lifecycle of a VNF, enabling service providers to easily orchestrate multiple applications, including those from different vendors within the dynamic environment of virtual networks.

The Dialogic PowerMedia team developed Java-based plugin adapters using Oracle Communications Application Orchestrator Plugin Development Kit (PDK) to enable the sharing of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and scaling policy along with configuration and topology information between the PowerMedia MRB/MRF applications and Oracle Communications Application Orchestrator. Dialogic was able to demonstrate, in real-time, the ability to detect, instantiate, configure and turn-up additional MRF resources dynamically in response to evolving network conditions such as increased call volume, quality of experience indication, network impairment and temporary network surge.

"This is a great example of the openness and agility of PowerMedia XMS and PowerMedia MRB that allow rapid onboarding in different virtualization environments and interworking with leading third party MANO providers," said Jim Machi, Senior Vice President of Product Management and Marketing at Dialogic. "This gives operators moving to NFV the flexibility to deploy 'best–of-breed' solutions for their cloud-centric offerings."

Dialogic's new real-time communications applications can be seen at upcoming events, including Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 22-25, 2016. Dialogic (Hall 6 Stand 6B62) will be demonstrating a range of real-time communications applications for operators, conducting a WebRTC demo, and demonstrating Dialogic NFV solutions, including interoperability with Oracle Communications Application Orchestrator for Network Function Virtualization (NFV) environments .
