WHAT
Live product demonstrations of MultiTech’s newest IoT technologies at Mobile World Congress.

The Demonstrations
Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, Feb. 26-March 1

LoRa Alliance - Stand Hall 8, booth 8.0D3

The LoRa Alliance™ is an open, non-profit association, founded by MultiTech and others, to standardize Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) for the Internet of Things (IoT),  machine-to-machine (M2M), smart city, and industrial applications.

Within the LoRa Alliance booth, MultiTech will display their LoRaWAN™ Certified products and conduct demonstrations showcasing the impact of its IoT solutions within Utilities, including electric meters, lighting and energy management scenarios. Participating companies include Andreas Informatique, MCCI, NNNCo & Ubiquia. Demonstrations feature a variety of types of MultiConnect® Conduit™ gateways providing LoRa® connectivity between the assets and the back end platform from the participants.

  • ANDREA Informatique : ANDREA demonstrates the pertinence of the LoRa technology in the Smart Metering sector. In this example, Pegasus, the ANDREA's DLMS certified meter, is a LoRa device and it is connected to the Actility LoRaWAN Network by means of the MultiTech Conduit AP gateway. ANDREA's SmartHawk (The DLMS Meter Configuration Tool) is used as the meter reading application. SmartHawk will send requests to, and receive responses from, the Pegasus LoRa Meter. In the demo it is possible to read/write, among others, the Clock, Energy registers, Load Profile, etc.

  • MCCI : NerveCircuit™ by MCCI Corporation allows building managers to monitor energy consumption in real-time using LoRaWAN technology. Standards-based and built with open-source hardware and software, and can be provided for a one-time fee or via annual subscription. NerveCircuit users have documented up to 25% reduction in annual electrical consumption by discovering unsuspected HVAC and building control-system problems. It easily expands to monitor water and gas consumption, and to monitor office environmental conditions.

MCCI Catena® Arduino LoRaWAN products provide small, reliable, and professional prototyping platforms for research, proof of concept, and initial deployments.

  • NNNCo: NNNCo’s N-save DRED (Demand Response Enabling Device) is a LoRaWAN based purpose-built controller designed to manage energy loads. N-save units comply with AS4755 to provide controls required to control a range of loads, such as hot-water circuits, pool pumps and air conditioners. This demonstration device is four (4) complete N-save units stored in a visible housing. The lamps mounted on the box simulate loads such as hot water and are switched off and on by the contactors. This demonstrates the N-save’s ability to support multicast capabilities to allow effective management of groups of energy loads with a single command, as well as measuring the energy used by the load.

  • Ubicquia: Ubicell is a plug & play network and IoT router that simply replaces the standard streetlight photocell.  It’s a modular and cost effective platform for mobile operators, municipalities, utilities, and lighting manufacturers who are deploying smart city and broadband services and it is compatible with more than 300 million streetlights globally. Along with additional energy savings, the Ubicell provides real-time data on the quality of the electrical grid, streetlight outages, the signal strength of the mobile network and even the impact high winds and hurricanes can have on a street pole.  In addition to partnering with mobile operators worldwide, Ubicquia’s distribution channels include smart city system integrators, energy service companies (ESCO), wireless infrastructure providers and electrical contractors.

Orbiwise SA and Partners : Smart-city Zone

GNS, IEM, Microshare, MultiTech, MuRata, Sysdev and Viloc - will showcase an end-to-end live LoRaWAN Network that will demonstrate just a few of the many applications that will help improve the life of citizens in cities around the world. Solutions demonstrated will include asset tracking via LoRa Geolocation (Viloc), building structural health (Sysdev), home & building door/window sensors (MuRata), parking space monitoring (IEM) and Smart-ID Badges for secured home and office (GNS). These solution devices will connect via MultiTech LoRaWAN indoor Conduit AP Gateways and outdoor Conduit IP67 v2.1 GeoLocation ready BTS to the OrbiWise LoRaWAN Network Server and into the Microshare Smart Facility & Data Management System.

OrbiWise SA is a leading international solution provider for LPWA IoT networks based on LoRa Technology and a contributing member of the LoRa Alliance.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise “Enabling Future Cities” – Hall 3, Stand 3E11

For Smart Cities, HPE will have two showcases using the HPE Universal IoT Platform at MWC this year.  We will be showing how the data from a plethora of sensors using different protocols and connectivity types is collected, normalized using the one M2M industry standard, and then exposed to the City’s operational teams as well as its citizens.  This will enable citizens to directly interrogate this data themselves by using a Chatbot, enabled by HPE Smart Interaction Server (SIS), to answer questions such as the air quality and levels of congestions/crowd numbers in an area they wish to visit.
