MultiTech Introduces IP67 Rated LoRa Base Station
Rugged, weather-proof, industrialized solution promotes deployment of public or private LoRaWAN™ networks in remote outdoor locations.

Mounds View, MN – February 9, 2016 – Multi-Tech Systems, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of M2M and IoT devices, today introduced the MultiConnect® Conduit™ IP67 LoRa® base station. In response to customer demands for a ruggedized solution to deploy LoRaWAN™ technology to remote, outdoor locations, MultiTech has packaged the award winning MultiConnect Conduit gateway in an IP67 compliant enclosure in order to provide durable, low-power, wide-area connectivity in support of applications in the agriculture and energy industries, as well as others which require pre-packaged, industrial, weather-proof coverage in remote locations.

The MultiConnect Conduit IP67 base station supports both European and North America ISM bands and features built-in lightening arrestor and grounding mechanisms to protect against storm damage. Bundled for easy deployment, the solution includes a MultiConnect Conduit with pre-loaded LoRa MultiConnect® mCard™, enclosure and high-gain LoRa antenna to improve outdoor coverage range.

Capable of resisting harsh environmental factors including moisture, dust, wind, rain, snow and extreme head, the Conduit IP67 base station provides a choice of cellular or Ethernet backhaul, and can be deployed as part of an existing telecommunications tower, individual stand or wall mount.

“LoRaWAN technology is uniquely well-suited for applications in the agriculture and energy space,” said Derek Wallace, Director of Product Management for MultiTech. “We designed this solution to help our customers more easily deploy their own LoRa networks to cover the particular needs of farms, refineries, power plants and more. With this base station, they can connect thousands of end points monitoring sensors throughout their operations with carrier-grade connectivity.”

“MultiTech is serious about delivering exactly what their customers need, and in certain industries, they need a pre-packaged solution that is ready to deploy, even in potentially harsh environments,” said James Brehm of James Brehm & Associates, a market research firm focused on the Internet of Things. “I expect this solution to make a serious impact on some key, growing markets and, as a result, fast-track uptake of LoRaWAN technology.”

The MultiConnect Conduit IP67 base station will be on display this week at the DistribuTECH Conference and Exhibition in the MultiTech exhibit at booth #2438. Visitors can also see live demos of LoRaWAN technology in the MultiTech exhibit as well as the Semtech booth #2035.

Media covering the World Ag Expo in Tulare, CA are invited to learn more at the MultiTech LPWAN reception February 10th at 6:30 p.m. at the Hampton Inn & Suites Tulare 1100 N. Cherry Street, Tulare, California.

The MultiConnect Conduit IP67 base station is available for samples now with general availability later this year.
