TeleCommunication Systems Showcases Wide Range of Messaging, Location, and Other Innovative Communications Solutions for the Connected Ecosystem during Mobile World Congress 2016

ANNAPOLIS, Md. and BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 17, 2016 – TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), a world leader in secure and highly reliable wireless communication technology, today announced that the company is exhibiting its connected car, connected health, location, messaging, cybersecurity, public safety and other communications solutions at Mobile World Congress 2016’s IoT Pavilion, Hall 8.0, Stand 8.0 C25, February 22-25 in Barcelona.

Recognized by ABI Research as the global leader in precise LBS infrastructure, TCS processes more than 7 billion LBS transactions monthly. In addition, TCS is a global leader in messaging, processing more than 5 trillion messages to date. TCS experts will be on-site to discuss the company’s extensive suite of location, messaging and other secure wireless technology solutions at Mobile World Congress 2016, including:

  • Cloud Messaging Center – TCS’ over-the-top, one-to-many messaging service allows enterprises, businesses and municipalities to easily communicate with employees, customers and partners anywhere and anytime. It is now available to developers via APIs, allowing seamless and quick integration into any system, website or application.
  • Cybersecurity – Through its Art of Exploitation® solutions, TCS develops cutting edge technology, course content, labs and exercises to provide performance-based learning and assessments of skills in all cybersecurity disciplines. TCS’ programs enable leaders to evaluate their workforce and define training paths for optimal cyber defense.
  • Indoor/Outdoor Location Services – TCS delivers seamless indoor/outdoor location services and applications, including inertial navigation and sensor fusion, to wireless operators, enterprises and other organizations, enabling precise measurement of direction, speed and altitude.
    • Location Based Services (LBS) Infrastructure for Operators – TCS’ LBS infrastructure supports the generation and distribution of location information. TCS offers both active and passive location solutions designed to optimize location results. TCS’ location solutions consolidate all of the capabilities of the various network location servers — GMLC, SMLC, E-SMLC, SAS and SLP — into one solution that is flexible, powerful and scalable.
    • Look4™ & Location APIs – Look4 is a complete suite of location APIs designed to help developers enrich mobile products and applications with advanced maps, search, geocoding, navigation and location capabilities. Look4 is a complete out-of-the-box solution for developers.
    • TCS Trusted Location™ – TCS’ location application can verify and validate a device's location nearly anywhere in the world in near real-time. Utilizing a unique and patented set of libraries, including cellular, GPS, Wi-Fi and satellite, TCS' Trusted Location algorithms calculate and report the location and authenticity of the device.
    • NFV – Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) is offered for all of TCS’ location-based services and messaging technology solutions. Integrating NFV enables TCS customers, including global wireless operators and enterprises, to virtualize entire classes of network node functions into communication services that will cost-effectively run on common off-the-shelf, non-proprietary hardware platforms.
  • VirtuMedix® – TCS’ connected health platform offers a highly reliable and secure telemedicine platform for practitioners and caregivers to provide virtual health services to patients anytime, anywhere and from any device. VirtuMedix reduces clinical and user healthcare costs while improving patient care.
  • Public Safety Solutions – An array of communications solutions designed for the public safety market, including:
    • Connected Mobility – TCS’ solutions for connected mobility securely connect vehicles, people, cameras and other sensors to enhance operational efficiency, safety and security beyond what has ever been imaginable. With Connected Mobility, organizations have instant access to real-time information critical to their mission.
    • Enhanced 1-1-2 – Using TCS’ Wireless E1-1-2 (E9-1-1) solution, wireless operators can comply with Phase I and Phase II of the FCC mandate by delivering wireless emergency call location information to the appropriate emergency dispatch center quickly, easily and on budget. Every day, TCS handles more than 150,000 U.S. life-saving calls.
    • Text-to-911 (also known as SMS9-1-1) – TCS enables every U.S. Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) across the nation to receive text messages from wireless subscribers, regardless of the PSAP’s level of technology.
    • Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) – WEA allows emergency managers on all levels to promote communications between country, international and border public safety organizations. The WEA application enables the origination and delivery of geo-targeted emergency alerts over multiple technologies using mobile broadcast technology.
