HSINCHU, Feb. 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- MediaTek and Ericsson today announced successful testing to enable Wi-Fi calling across advanced MediaTek powered mobile devices and Ericsson's mobile network. The collaboration will bring the advantages of Wi-Fi calling to a significantly larger base of devices and end-users.

The comprehensive suite of testing between a MediaTek based mobile device and the Ericsson Evolved Packet Core and Ericsson IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) included registration, idle and active call mobility - for example between Wi-Fi and LTE - SMS, voice and video calling and emergency services Wi-Fi calling.
These features, already available on Ericsson's mobile network solution, are now also offered on MediaTek helio X and P series SoC's -- starting from helio P10 -- and on all new 4G LTE smartphone SoC platforms from MediaTek.
