Anritsu Company to Showcase CBRS Testing Capability with Demonstration Featuring Sierra Wireless LTE-Advanced Pro Module
- Radio Communications Analyzer MT8821C to Verify CBRS Module Performance in Anritsu Booth at Mobile World Congress Americas 2018 -

ALLEN, Texas, Sept. 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Anritsu Company will demonstrate its ability to test emerging Citizen Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) chipsets and modules in its booth (#2918) at Mobile World Congress Americas 2018 in Los Angeles, September 12-14. The Anritsu Radio Communications Analyzer MT8821C will be conducting throughput tests on a Sierra Wireless AirPrime® EM75 Series LTE-Advanced Pro cellular module that supports CBRS band applications.

The MT8821C will conduct RF parametric and throughput tests in the 3.5 GHz CBRS band to verify that the Sierra Wireless networking module meets CBRS specifications. Although the MT8821C supports 8-way Carrier Aggregation (8 CA) and 4x4 Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (4x4 MIMO), the demonstration will showcase the capability of the module, which is 3 CA and 2x2 MIMO for CBRS applications.

"As shown with our Mobile World Congress Americas demonstration, Anritsu continues to support the advancement of new technologies with test solutions that help our customers be first-to-market with innovative solutions. Our MT8821C is a natural choice to verify Sierra Wireless' CBRS solutions, as it has a proven track record of validating existing LTE, LTE-A and LTE-Advanced Pro modules being developed by Sierra Wireless," said Adnan Kahn, Sr. Business Development Manager, Anritsu Company.

Testing CBRS devices and systems is becoming increasingly important as mobile operators prepare to utilize Band 48 to increase capacity and speeds of LTE networks. CBRS is a revolutionary license sharing service utilizing a three-tiered spectrum authorization framework. The shared spectrum is considered a solution to help service providers meet network challenges associated with increased data demands and coverage.

"Sierra Wireless' EM75 Series LTE-Advanced Pro modules enable the world's fastest IoT applications for mobile computing, networking, and industrial M2M," said Jim Engleson, Senior Director, EM/MC Marketing, Sierra Wireless. "No other module can provide higher uplink and downlink speeds, as well as access to CBRS private network technology. We're pleased to work with Anritsu to validate this performance for our customers."

Incumbent Access, Priority Access, and General Authorized Access are the three CBRS tiers. Incumbent Access is for authorized federal and grandfathered fixed satellite service users, while Priority Access consists of Priority Access Licenses (PALs) for 10-MHz channels that are expected to be used by mobile operators. General Authorized Access (GAA) makes any portion of the 3550-3700 MHz band not assigned to a higher tier available to other users.
